The results are in! Winners of the HPC Scholarship 2022 have been announced


In early 2022, a call for an HPC Scholarship was announced for the first time to support the supercomputer-related research activities and professional development of PhD students with outstanding scientific achievements. This call was aiming at students who have been admitted to a PhD course in a doctoral school, and have the legal status of a student or PhD candidate for the ongoing academic year. The Evaluation Committee awarded 4 individuals for a grant period of 5 months. The program will start in April.

A total of 39 applications were received during the application submission period. The average age of the applicants was 29 years with the youngest being 24 years old and the oldest being 41 years old. As regards the distribution of male and female applicants, 23% of the applicants were women and 77% of them were men. 8 different fields of science were represented; most applications were related to engineering and technology (33%), physical science (26%) and chemical sciences (23%), but candidates from educational sciences, agricultural sciences and medical and health sciences were also encountered. Most applicants came from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME, 26%), Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE, 21%) and the University of Szeged (SZTE, 15%); applications form a total of 13 different institutions of higher education were received.

The Evaluation Committee assessed extremely high-quality applications, and we thank all applicants for the works submitted.

The HPC Scholarship 2022 has been awarded to the following applicants:
